Welcome to McKissick's School Counseling Page

My name is Michelle Stinehart, and this is my first year as a school counselor at McKissick. I worked in the field of social work and counseling for eight years before finishing my Masters and Ed.S. in school counseling at Clemson University this past spring. I grew up in North Carolina but have lived in the upstate for the past 6 years. I have two young daughters-- a four-year-old and a baby; my husband is a 5th grade teacher in the district, and we love Pickens County!

I am so excited to be at McKissick, and I look forward to getting to know our students and parents! If I can help in any way, please feel free to contact me at or at (864) 397-2204.

Our counseling program at McKissick is based upon the implementation of four major components.

  • The first component is Guidance Curriculum. I will be in each classroom monthly teaching lessons on various subjects and emphasizing our character education program, Lifelong Guidelines and LIFESKILLS.
  • The second component is Individual Student Planning. This component includes assisting students with their academic goals and achievements, testing students, and beginning to expose them to career development.
  • The third component is Responsive Services which includes individual counseling with students, small group counseling, crisis response and counseling, consultation, and referrals to outside agencies.
  • The last component is System Support in which I am involved in a variety of activities that support the school and community relationships.
