Title I

Welcome to Title 1 at McKissick Elementary. If you have any feedback about our school’s Title 1 program, please contact Heidi Mathis at 864-397-2332.

Thank You.

Dear Parents, Families and Community,

The 2017-2018 school year is going to be an exciting year for all. McKissick is a Title 1 Schoolwide Model school. The school is able to provide teachers and students with additional reading and math instructional supplies for the classroom and home use through the Federal Title 1 funds. Our teachers receive additional training so they are able to become experts in their educational field as well as social and emotional support from the family liaison. With Title 1, we are able to promote lower teacher/student class size, a parent resource room with materials for parents to check out for free to take home and use with their children to support educational learning. Parents are also able to participate in parenting how to help my children sessions. There are numerous opportunities to participate in educational and engaging activities that promote healthy academic and social development.

During the first nine weeks of the school year, you will receive a copy of the 2017-2018 Title 1 School/Parent Compact and the Title 1 Parent and Family Engagement Policy. The School/Parent Compact will need to be signed and returned after you have reviewed the compact. We need 100% of the compacts returned to the school. Please return these as soon as possible. We also have a copy of our current school Title 1 plan located in the Title 1 notebook in our main office. This notebook is a great way to learn about all of the activities and programs held at McKissick Elementary.

McKissick invites you to join us for the many activities we have planned for students, parents and families this school year. Please look for flyers to come home about Meet the Teacher night, Conference evenings, Parent How to Help sessions, Literacy night, Math night, Santa Literacy night and many other opportunities for you to become involved in your child’s educational adventure.

Please join us for as many events as your schedule will allow. We are always excited for parents and families to be involved in their child’s education. School is important in your child’s life but YOU make the DIFFERENCE!

Please visit our Parent Resource room located in room 302 (directly across from main office). There are books for parents to read, math and reading games to play with children, videos to check out and books to checkout to read to your children. We also have new resources for our Spanish speaking families to assist with educational needs. These materials are located in room 201 (ESOL classroom). There are also computers set up for parents to use to check students grades, check assignments in Schoology, sign up for email accounts, create a resume and apply for jobs.

I look forward to meeting you.
